Zero Skateboards was founded by Jamie Thomas in San Diego, USA in 1996. Initially Zero was intended as a t-shirt and apparel brand and was first advertised in a small Zero clip in the legendary "Welcome to Hell" video by Toy Machine Skateboards, Jamie Thomas' board sponsor at the time.
The Zero team consisted out of then completely unknown amateurs Adrian Lopez, Erik Ellington, Matt Mumford, Scotty Copalman and Wade Burkitt.
Due to high demand, Thomas decided to produce skateboards in addition to the clothing line. "Thrill Of It All" was Zero's first video in 1997 and helped the young brand grow rapidly. In 1999, "Misled Youth" followed, which made a lasting impact on Zero Skateboards' image with hard rail and stair skating. In early 2000 Thomas separated his brand from Tum Yeto Distribution and founded Black Box Distribution, which also united Fallen Footwear, Mystery Skateboards and Threat under one roof.
Zero is so far the only team to have won Thrasher Magazine's "King Of The Road" 3 times in a row.
Over the years artists like Pushead, Mark "Fos" Foster, Attak, Bulldog, Pitch Canker, Mariusz Lewandowski, Todd Bratrud, Ben Horton, Arcana and many more have created designs for Zero. In addition, Zero has produced licensed decks and shirts in collaboration with the bands "The Misfits" and "Iron Maiden" in recent years.
Thanks to his eye for talent, Jamie Thomas has brought many skateboarders into the spotlight with Zero. Besides the current Zero team with Chris Cole, particular standouts include Erik Ellington and Jim Greco, who were heavily involved in the creation of Baker Skateboards and then Deathwish after their time with Zero.
Today, Zero is a small company that is run with a lot of passion by a small team. The products include new graphics and also always reissues of old classics.
