Vans is a Californian footwear company founded by Van Doren brothers James and Paul in Anaheim in 1966. Early on, the founders focused their energy on skate shoes and created their Hi-Top, the first model designed primarily for skateboarders. Vans recognized very early the need to involve professional skateboarders in product development. Legendary pros like Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva worked on the first models, such as the Vans Era.
Around 1976, the now very famous "Off the Wall" logo was created. Vans shoes convinced skateboarders even then because of the look and the flat, grippy sole (Waffle Sole). In the 70s, the Vans Old Skool shoe and the Slip On were produced for the first time, which are still among the most popular models and are available in all imaginable color combinations.
Anyone who chooses to buy an Old Skool, Sk8-Hi or Slip On today will get some nostalgia with a high level of technical and qualitative performance. The Classics were of course always improved and upgraded specifically for skateboarders. Many models are available specifically as skate versions, so you should pay attention to the appropriate description before buying.
