Skate Video Classics: Toy Machine Welcome To Hell

In the course of time we will also post the skate video classics on this blog to ensure that historically particularly relevant works are not forgotten and that the younger generation also gets an insight into the development of skateboarding.

One such video is clearly the 1996 Toy Machine "Welcome To Hell" video.

After most of the Toy Machine team left the company in 1994, Toy Machine founder Ed Templeton called Jamie Thomas and offered him to ride for Toy Machine and help set up a new team. Jamie, who had just left his sponsor Invisible Skateboards, immediately agreed and began rebuilding Toy Machine. He brought Donny Barley, Brian Anderson, Elissa Steamer, Mike Maldonado and Chad Muska on board, among others. With this young, motivated team, Jamie immediately started working on the next video project, which became Welcome To Hell.

Welcome To Hell set new standards back then and Jamie's part is still amazing to this day.

There were technical problems at the premiere of the video, leading a drunk Chad to swear at Ed Templeton. The day after, Ed called Chad to kick him off the team and Chad's part was removed from the video. Most of his clips were later used in the Shortys video, years later the original clip from the Toy Machine video was released:
