Which truck size fits my deck?
Which trucks fit my skateboard deck?
Skateboard trucks, unlike most other components of a skateboard, are not standardized, and different truck brands each use their own specifications, which occasionally poses a challenge even for the most experienced skateshop staff.
Why do the trucks have different designations? The answer is quite simple. Some manufacturers specify the sizes in millimeters, others in inches. Some measure the width of the axle pin, while others measure the width of the hanger. Other companies, like ACE Trucks, for example, simply number their trucks sequentially, giving no indication of the actual size.
In our online shop, you can easily match the axles to your deck using our "Recommended for deck width" filter.
Generally, you try to choose an axle that fits as closely as possible to the side edges of the deck. In other words, the width of your axle should be as close as possible to the width of your deck. Since most manufacturers offer axles in 0.25-inch increments, this results in a 0.125-inch variation, requiring you to decide whether your trucks should be slightly narrower or wider than the deck. Usually, you'll opt for the slightly narrower axle.
Here you will find all common skateboard truck brands with their corresponding, optimal deck width:
