In 2007, longtime Baker Skateboards pros Erik Ellington, Andrew Reynolds and Jim Greco decided to form Deathwish Skateboards under the umbrella of Bakerboys Distribution. Although Baker and Deathwish naturally have close roots, Deathwish was able to create a look and style all their own. With bright colors, raw graphics and the almost genius Gang Logo, Deathwish was able to quickly establish itself in the skateboarding scene. When selecting the team, Greco and Ellington always focused on unique characters that perfectly embodied the brand's tough image. This combination was a recipe for success that quickly made Deathwish Skateboards one of the most popular brands which many people could identify with, as can be seen not only in the large number of Gang Logo tattoos on enthusiastic fans.
In addition to skateboard decks, Deathwish also offers apparel such as T-shirts and hoodies, as well as various accessories with the usual Deathwish aesthetics. Die-hard Deathwish Skateboards fans can find numerous items with the Gang Logo or the Deathspray script. Again and again, unusual and awesome items like Ski Masks or sweatpants find their way into the extensive collection.
Deathwish Skateboards celebrated their media debut with the promo video Baker has a Deathwish and showed the world one of the most controversial teams in skateboard history. Antwuan Dixon in particular was one of the most controversial Deathwish pros for a long time, causing a lot of conversation aside from his skateboarding. The Deathwish Video was the company's first standalone video, featuring parts from Lizard King, Slash, Erik Ellington, Jim Greco and Jon Dickson. Today's Deathwish Skateboards team includes established names like Erik Ellington, Neen Williams and Jon Dickson, as well as a few new additions in Victoria Ruesga, Kirby and Pedro Delfino.
