Wheelbase and Trucks
Your deck's wheelbase is an important metric because it affects overall length, steering, and pop.
In this post we explain the effects of your trucks on the Wheelbase, everything you need to know about Wheelbase in general is covered in another article on our Skate Tech Blog.
The wheelbase is measured on skateboard decks from the center of the inner truck holes.
This is a simplified standardization, because the actual wheelbase of your deck, results from the combination of the deck's wheelbase and the trucks of your choice. To measure the true wheelbase of your setup, you need to measure the distance from the center of your front axle, to the center of your rear axle. But take into consideration: trucks are never 100% straight. Simply measure on both sides and calculate the medium to get the right result.
We did the work for you and created a list that explains exactly how your trucks affect the wheelbase.
For this we measured the different models of the brands Ace Trucks, Film, Independent, Krux, Thunder, Tensor and Venture and put them in a table.
In this overview you can see by how much your actual wheelbase is longer than the wheelbase specified by the deck manufacturer:
